Easy Einkorn Pizza Recipe
I have a wheat sensitivity and cannot tolerate gluten. I haven't touched even a crumb of bread, pizza, or pasta in over 4 years, when I discovered wheat was the cause of my eczema. You better believe it that I was VERY happy when I discovered that some wheat sensitive people can tolerate an ancient wheat called Einkorn! Einkorn is much different than modern wheat. Over centuries, humans have gradually changed the genetics of wheat by selecting certain seeds at harvest best suited for higher yield. This incidentally caused modern wheat to have more gluten and is why it is harder for us to digest. So I got the courage to try nature's first wheat with lower gluten levels. Keep in mind, I do not have celiac's disease. I first tried Young Living's Spaghetti and found it was very easy to digest and didn't trigger any eczema for me!
3 Reasons To Try Einkorn Wheat
1. It tastes better! My kids love it and it does not have the same thick texture you are probably familiar with when you eat whole wheat. It has a similar nutty taste that whole wheat has, with a lighter texture! Yummmm!
2. We digest it easily! Our family is a gluten-sensitive family. It doesn't sit well on any of our stomachs. A little bit of Einkorn goes a long way. So I find that our portions are smaller and in general, it is easier to digest.
3. Einkorn is the purest and most ancient form of wheat available! This super special grain has NOT been hybridized like modern wheat. It's chromosomes are different than the wheat we have widespread commercially available and naturally contains a very different composition of gluten.
After learning how einkorn is nutritionally beneficial and delicious, I had to try more!
The flour was most exciting to me because I love to bake and my kids and I are getting tired of gluten free baked goods... ::sigh::
So, first on my list of requests from the kids is PIZZA!! Here's the recipe we used tonight that turned out to be a HUGE HIT!! This made enough pizza to perfectly feed our family of 4!
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups of Young Living Einkorn Wheat Flour
1/2 cup hot water (not boiling, but hot)
1 teaspoon sea salt
3 Tablespoons olive oil
Favorite tomato sauce & toppings
Mozzarella cheese
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix with your hands. I also added a couple drops of Taste of Italy Essential Oil to make it extra flavorful! Leave the dough in the bowl with a wet paper towel draped over and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
Cut the dough into roughly 8 equal pieces and roll out the dough very thin using a rolling pin:
Cook the pizza crusts in a 350 degree F oven for 7-12 minutes (depending on how thin you rolled it out). You can also use this same recipe for tortillas for Taco Tuesday!
Add your sauce, toppings, and cheese and pop it back in the oven! 350 degrees F for another 10 minutes or until your cheese is melted.
Let it cool for another 5 minutes before serving!!
